Telecommunications - Configuration of X.25 Network User Identification

Subscription Option - Network User Identification

Subscription Option - Network User Identification override

Enables the DTE to provide information to the network for billing, security or network management purposes on a per call basis.

This information may be provided by the DTE in the call request packet or in the call accepted packet. If the network determines that the NUI is invalid or not present when required by the network, it will clear the call.

The NUI is never transmitted to the remote DTE.

The calling DTE address transmitted to the remote DTE in the address field should not be inferred from the NUI.

10.25 - Subscription Option - Network User Identification override

When this facility is subscribed to, one or more NUIs are also agreed. Associated with each NUI, is a set of subscription-time optional user facilities. When one of these NUIs is provided in a call request packet, the set of subscription-time optional user facilities associated with it overrides the facilities which apply to the interface.

This will normally be used for X.32 but X.25 and X.32 are so similar that I think its worth including here.

UKa say they support this at release 4 but I suspect this requires TAMS *** check ***

table build question:

TNDTED Q128( new ) Subscription: send NUI facility

|TNDTED Q128| new | Subscription: send NUI facility......#(Allowed/required/forbidden)

default: allowed

This question determines whether the subscription to send the Network User Identification facility is permitted for the DTE. The NUI facility enables the DTE to provide information to the TP5 NMC and/or TAMS regarding billing, security, or network management information on a per call basis.

ISO 8878 compatibility

ONA compatibility

RD 0004 part 8:1.C (PICS proforma Public Network1984)

FS7 - Network User Identification - send...... P = Prohibited

This option is not required for ONA compatibility.

Therefore release 4 is compatible with ONA for this option.
