Telecommunications - Subscription Option - TOA/NPI address subscription

The call set-up and clearing packets contain an address block. This address block has two possible formats:

bit 8 of GFI

A-bit

non-TDA/NZI address format 0 short address format
TOA/NPI address format 1 long address format

When this facility is subscribed to, the DCE and the DTE shall always use the TOA/NPi address format. ie, the network will always use the long address format of the call set-up and clearing packets transmitted from the network.

Whether or not this facility is subscribed to the DTE is permitted to use either long address format (if supported by the network) or short address format.
