A surface is a possibly curved two dimentional shape in a higher dimentional space.

It can be a boundary between different volumes.

Hyperbola

We look at quadratic equations in two variables like:

A x² + B xy + C y²+ D x + E y + F = 0

And relate that to specific cases.

circle

x² + y² = r²

ellipse

x²	+	y²	=±1
a²		b²

parabola

y² = 4 a x

hyperbola

x²	-	y²	=±1
a²		b²
