Telecommunications History - PSS Tech Support

At some stage the permission to connect group changed into a technical support group for communication protocols especially IBM protocols over X.25 which was a problem at the time.

The IBM over X.25 was supposed to be implemented on TP3006 equipment. The only problem was the software was not working properly (did Telenet sell us this as tried and tested technology?).

Some of us went to Telenet to get training on this equipment (page about our Telenet training) which was very nice but I paid for it later by having to support it.

So this was sold to BT customers as a working service but customers soon started calling us with problems. I was ordered to tell customers that this was some problem specific to them, not poor software, which it was. The customers knew this so being told to lie to them was counter productive.

At this stage working on this group became very unpleasant.
