Telecommunications - Practical - Monitoring bi-sync protocols

 



This practical is to demonstrate the protocol seen when monitoring

BPAD circuits.

Procedure -

1) setup tester for Protocol = sync

code = EBCDIC

and run tester

2) make sure CTS3 has BISYNC/EBCDIC rom pack inserted.

switch on

press CTRL

press v key to make sure tester setup as follows:

mode = prgm

xmit = 9600 bps

xmit clk error = nom

recv = 9600 bps

simulate DCE

delay = 0200

duplex = multidrop

code = EBCDIC HEX

trans = SYNC

clk = normal

bits/char = 8

parity = none

syn = 32,32

idle=mark

eof=

3) press STRT

CU address=40 press |

v

DE address=40 press |

v

note what is happening on the trace

4) switch on PC

wait for C>

type CD \astbsc

type CONFIG

check it is setup as follows:

Configuration filename [CONFIG.DAT]:

Interface card address [:300]:

Interrupt request line [2]:

Line bit rate [9600]:

Control unit number [00]:

Terminal Device number [00]:

Display type [M]:

Disk printer available [N]:

Printer available [N]:

press escape

type ASTBSC

screen should go blank

on CTS3 press :-

STOP

STRT
