Technology - Shuttle PC - Unpacking

For futher information about unpacking Shuttle see here.

I could not resist opening the Shuttle box first, inside this box is another box. Inside is the computer itself, a non-UK mains socket, and a box with various smaller components,

This contains the following, (including English Installation Guide, French Installation Guide (marked as SB81P ??) , Mainboard Manual, nVidia Raid Manual, Manual/Utilities/Drivers CD and Shuttle Extra (PC-Cillin2004, Muvee autoProducer3.1 and Acrobat Reader V6.0)).

I nearly missed this pack of thermal compound in the pack, I didn't look at it carefully enough and thought it was one of those silica gel things, luckily I checked again later.

I checked the outside of the computer and everything looks OK except that one of the little green doors on the SPDIF out optical seems to be stuck inside.

The UK mains plug was sent in the other box with the other components, a replacement for the non-UK one in the Shuttle box.

For futher information about unpacking CPU see here.

If you remove the cpu from this packaging be careful not to touch the pins or discharge any static electricity on them see handling the cpu.

Inside is the CPU and a fan and heatsink. Unfortunately the fan and heatsink are wasted since the Shuttle includes all that.

The CPU is in a plastic holder, inside this the CPU is on a piece of black conductive foam.

Installing the CPU.

For futher information about unpacking Memory see here.

The memory is not really curved like the picture, I just took the picture too close.
